Our Staff

Staff members of Cataldo and Cataldo Schott Funeral Homes are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors.

Brian Cataldo Owner/Funeral Director

Brian was born at Britt and raised in Garner. He graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1987 and continued his education at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.

 

He transferred to the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis where he was active in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He served his internship at Washburn McReavy Funeral Homes in the Twin Cities and graduated with distinction from the University Of Minnesota in 1991 with a bachelor of science degree in mortuary science. Brian served his apprenticeship in Iowa at Dunn’s and Westover Funeral Homes in Des Moines.

 

He then returned home to assist his father in 1994 and purchased the business from him in January of 2001. Brian is married to Bonnie Rayhons of Garner. They have three sons, Samuel, Ray and Reed.

Dean Cataldo Funeral Director

Dean was born at Clarion and grew up in Garner. He graduated from Garner High School in 1956 and attended Mason City Junior College. He graduated from the University of Iowa and continued his education at the University of Minnesota where he received his mortuary science degree. Dean served his apprenticeship at Bruce’s Funeral Home in Fort Dodge and then returned to Garner to teach high school biology.

 

In 1975, he purchased the Boughton Funeral Home in Britt and Woden and in 1976, the Bohn Funeral Home in Garner. Dean is married to Beverly Schaefer of Britt. They have three children, Brian, Brent and Kristine.

Bonnie (Rayhons) Cataldo Funeral Assistant

Bonnie (Rayhons) Cataldo was born in Britt and raised in Garner. She graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1990 and continued her education at Waldorf College in Forest City where she was active in the women’s basketball team. She graduated from Simpson College in Indianola with a degree in elementary education. She and her husband, Brian, have three sons, Samuel, Ray and Reed. Bonnie helps with visitations and office work.

Doris (Schaefer) Boekelman Funeral Assistant

Doris (Schaefer) Boekelman was born and raised in Britt. She currently lives in Britt and helps with visitations, services and light housekeeping at the funeral home. She has three children, Sandy, Mike and Susan.

Isaiah L. Schott Owner/Funeral Director cataldoschottfh@gmail.com

Isaiah is originally from Clermont, Iowa and graduated from Valley (CEW) High School in 1999. After high school he continued his education at Hawkeye Community College and graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mortuary Science. Isaiah served his apprenticeship at Major Erickson Funeral Home in Mason City and had been a licensed funeral director/pre-planning advisor for 10 years before coming to Forest City. He also holds his Life Insurance License for the State of Iowa. He has a solid background in all facets of funeral service including advanced funeral planning and monument and marker sales. In 2014, Isaiah became the managing partner of Cataldo Schott Funeral Home in Forest City. Isaiah and his wife, Tasha have two daughters, Cambry (age 7) and Laityn (age 4). Isaiah is a member of the Forest City Rotary Club, Forest City Young Professionals, board member for the Oakland Cemetery in Forest City and he and his family are members of the Forest City United Methodist Church. Isaiah and his wife Tasha enjoy being a part of the community and continue to serve the community with the professionalism and compassion that has been a tradition of the funeral home for many years.

Marlen & Karen Hanson Support Staff

Marlen and Karen Hansen are life-long residents of Forest City. Karen worked for the Forest City School District for 23 years until retirement and Marlen worked for Winnebago Industries for 19 years until retirement. Together they have three children and six grandchildren. Marlen and Karen started working for Petersen Lund Funeral Home in 2002. Karen is an attendant for visitation and Marlen helps as support staff for funerals, he also helps with other odd jobs at the funeral home. Together they also help with light maintenance of the funeral home. They are members of the Forest City United Methodist Church.

Orin Harris Support Staff

Orin and his wife Jan have been residents of Forest City since 1978. Together they have 4 children and four grandchildren. Orin worked for KIOW radio in Forest City for 35 years until his retirement. In his spare time he can be found announcing Forest City School and Waldorf College sporting events. He is a member of Forest City Rotary Club and also the Forest City United Methodist Church. Orin works as support staff for funerals.
