Milton Monson Jr.

Milton Monson Jr., 86, of Forest City died Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, Iowa with Pastor Bill Peters officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St. Forest City, Iowa.

Burial will be held at Ellington Township Cemetery, rural Forest City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Milton Monson Jr. was born September 6, 1931 in rural Crystal Lake, Iowa the son of Milton Sr. and Lucille (Philpott) Monson. Milton attended rural schools until the 8th grade.

Milton started driving truck in 1951 for various companies. In the 1960's Milton started working for Garner Ready Mix. After retiring from Yohn & Son started driving truck for S&M Trucking then drove for Branstad Farms. Driving truck was his passion.

Milton was married to Dorothy Hurst in 1953 until Dorothy's death in 1997, he later married Norma Brock in 1999 until Norma's death in 2017

Milton had a passion for driving truck and mowing grass. Milton would drive to Mexico to pick up his medications turn around drive back. Never turned on the radio. He was a proud owner of a 1929 Model A.

He enjoyed the many years he spent living in south Texas

Milton is survived by his children, Kenny (Sheryl) Monson, John (Virginia) Monson, Paula (Bill) Gaines, Darla (and the late Duane) Thorson; 18 grandchildren; 32 great Grandchildren; and 4 Great great grandchildren; sister, Darline Monson; special friends, Steve and Julie Miller; step children, Trudy (Larry) Folkerts, Rick (and the late Karen) Brock, Jodene (Gary) Bartleson, Rhonda King, Terrel (Tammy) Brock and John (Dawn) Brock.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two wives, Dorothy and Norma; daughter, Sandy and grandson, Marly Johnson Jr.
