Biography

GARNER - Lila M. Meyer, 94, of Garner died Wednesday (April 7, 2010) at the Concord Care Center in Garner.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday at the United Methodist Church in Garner with Rev. Tim Rieckhoff-Faris officiating. Burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Thursday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church

Lila Mabel Meyer, the daughter of Julius and Minnie (Patet) Meyer, was born December 18, 1915 at Hayfield. She graduated from Hayfield Consolidated High School in 1933. Lila worked on the family farm until 1952 when she began working for Iowa Electric and Light Power Company. She retired in November of 1977 and made her home in Garner with the exception of five years when she lived at Mason City with her nephew and his wife, Allan and Mary Louise Peterson. In November of 1992 she moved to Prairie View Apartments and in June of 2008 to Concord Care Center. Lila enjoyed her family, friends and playing dominoes and cards.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Garner and UMW.

Lila is survived by two nephews, Allan (Mary Louise) Peterson of Mobile, AL and Gaylon (Ann) Peterson of Miami, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Lillie Andersen and Letha Peterson.

Sorry for your loss. Lila was a very loving and interesting person. I had a conflict so not able to be at the funeral. I looked forward to visiting with Allan and Gaylon. Have not seen them since high school at good o... more
