BRITT - Bernadine T. Harbacheck, 91, of Britt died peacefully on Wednesday (June 9, 2010) at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held 2 P.M., Thursday, July 8th at the Westview Care Center in Britt. There will be no visitation. Her body was donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine.


Bernadine Theresa Harbacheck, the daughter of Louis and Theresa (Hikade) Schuster, was born October 3, 1918 at Barnum, Iowa. She graduated from Barnum Consolidated High School in 1936 and St. Joseph College of Nursing in Ft. Dodge in 1941. On April 21, 1942 she was married to Matthias Harbacheck at Moorland, Iowa. They lived in Joplin, MO until 1947 when they moved to Britt. Through her giving and caring heart she touched the lives of many as she completed fifty-seven years of nursing, retiring in 1997. Her last days were surrounded with love by the caring staff at Westview Care Center and Hospice of North Iowa.

Bernie is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt, June 19, 1991; her parents; four sisters; and six brothers. Bernie receive the peace of Christ. We love you and will miss you. ... Read More
