Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel and will continue one hour prior to services.

Elwin Orley Weaver, the son of Louis and Lydia (Greiman) Weaver, was born August 29, 1926 on the family farm south of Garner. He attended the rural schools of Ell Township and graduated from Garner High School in 1944. On November 27, 1948 he married Florence Renberg in Clear Lake. They farmed south of Garner all of their married life. In 1986, Elwin and Florence moved into Garner. Elwin, also known as "Walleye", enjoyed traveling and spending summers at his cabin in Ontario fishing.

He was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church where he was a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and served on the consistory. Elwin also was a 4-H Leader and served on the elevator board in Garner.

Elwin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Florence, of Garner; children, Craig (Lois) Weaver of Garner, Kim Weaver of Forest City, Jayne (John) Phillips of Waukee and Brent (Rosemary) Weaver of Garner; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bernice Maryhew; brothers, Emory, Wiley and Fredrick Weaver; sisters-in-law, Violet and Evelyn Weaver; and brother-in-law, Robert Maryhew.

I was sorry to hear of Elwin's death. I worked for Elwin growing up and he was a great guy to work for-paid very well and had great lunches. I still remember his laugh and smile. My prayers are with the family.

We are so sorry for your loss. It is not easy to loose a husband, father, or grandpa. We completely understand the father and grandpa all too well. We know that he will be missed by many. You all take care and be comforted that he is at peace and with alot of his loves ones and friends that went before him.
