BRITT - Beulah B. Green, 95, of Britt, died Monday (March 23, 2009) at Nightingale Suites Assisted Living in Arvada, Colorado.

Memorial services will be held 1:30 P.M., Saturday, April 4th at the United Methodist Church in Britt with Rev. Robert Dodge officiating. Inurnment will be in the Corwith Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Armstrong House in Britt.

Beulah Bell Green, the seventh of eight children of Daniel and Anna (Kanitz) Green, was born August 9, 1913, on the family farm near Corwith. She attended the rural schools of Hancock County. She lived in Britt where she was employed as a nurse for Dr. Camp for many years. Beulah later moved to Arvada, CO to be near her son, Dr. James "Gary" Green. She enjoyed spending time with her family and quilting.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Britt, UMW, Rebekah Lodge and the Hancock County Historical Society.

Beulah is survived by her son, Dr. James "Gary" (Roberta) Green of Golden, CO; two grandchildren, Dan (Juli) Green of Lakewood, CO, and Tracy (Ron) Drake of Golden, CO; four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Alyssa Drake and Connor and Dylan Green; a sister-in-law, Laura Green of Hastings, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Bertha Davis and Ethel Halligan; and five brothers, Edward, Carl, Elbert, Harold and William Green.

Aunt Beulah was the sister of my father, Harold. She could surely make you laugh with her keen sense of humor. We visited her often as children and then with our 4 children whenever we traveled to Iowa from Virginia. Our children all wrote this past week that they are saddened by her passing but can still see her with that smiling face. I still see her laughing when she told me that my Father was painting her house in Britt. He moved the ladder and the paint can fell off, dumping paint on his head. What could they do but stand there laughing as the paint ran down his face. Dad, like his sister, had a good sense of humor. We stopped at her house often after prowling through the junk yard in Britt with Dad. Something good to eat at her house was always a good thing. Aunt Beulah was so loved and will be missed by Tom and I and our children, Greg, Robin, Susan, and Jeff, but she left us with many great memories to tell of her that we hold so dear in our hearts. Her journey on earth has come to an end and so we say, so long, it has been good to know you, to a wonderful and loved Aunt Beulah.

I always called Aunt Beualh my second mom. When I had a slumber party it would be at her house. If I was late getting home from a band trip I would go to her house. I think she enjoyed the excitement as much as I did. I will fondly remember all she did for me.

We fondly remember Great Aunt Beulah's quick wit and charm. She could always bring a smile to your face and laughter whenever she was around. She was the life of the party at every Green graduation party for her nephew Jerry's children. We fondly remember our most recent photo taken with Beulah at her brother Bill's funeral where she posed with my husband Bill and I on either side of her. She referred to herself as "The rose between two thorns". She will always be remembered as such, a beautiful rose, and will be missed dearly by my family, Bill, Leanne, Rachel and Rebecca.

Joann and I reminisce back to the late 80's when our two kids would refer to Buelah as "The 74 yr. Old Teenager". She was always full of life & laughter. During that time she became, unknowing to her, our second Mother with the passing our Mother(Fern). We always looked forward to seeing her, in later years, when she lived in Britt and later Bersford, SD. She will be greatly missed and will be held dear to the hearts of I, Joann, and our daughter and son, Dawn and Chris
