WODEN - Kenneth D. Buns, 85, of Woden died Thursday (April 23, 2009) at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Woden with Rev. Bill Embree officiating. Burial will be in Bingham Township Cemetery south of Woden.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 P.M., Sunday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Woden and will continue one hour prior to services at the church
Kenneth Dale Buns, the son of Antony and Verna (Greenfield) Buns, was born May 19, 1923, at Woden. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Woden. Kenny graduated from Woden High School in 1942. On May 14, 1942, he married Betty Hanna at Bethany, MO. They lived for a time in Santa Monica, CA, Charles City and Buffalo Center. In 1954, they moved east of Woden where they farmed until retiring in September of 1979. They then moved into Woden. For many years, Kenny and Betty wintered in Florida, Texas and Arizona. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards and going to car races at the Hancock County Speedway.
He was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Woden.
Kenny is survived by his four sons, Randy (Linda) Buns of Chandler, AZ, Timmy (DeEtta) Buns of Wilmington, NC, Bradley (Ruth) Buns of Woden and Denny (Mona) Buns of Woden; eight grandchildren, Jason (Maggie) Buns, Heather (Ryan) Attleson, Amy Buns, Rayshel (Cody) Witte, Timmy Buns, Jr., Bret Buns, Thomas Buns and Casey (Allison) Buns; six great grandchildren, Austin, Hannah, Chance, Sylvia, Jacob and Coen; three brothers, James (Dixie) Buns of Woden, Maurice (Nancy) Buns of Woden and Tony (Sandra) Buns of Crystal Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, Aug. 13, 2001; his parents; and an infant brother, Merle. ... Read More
