Beverly Jean Thompson was born in Hardy, Iowa on April 5, 1928, the daughter of John and Hilda (Falb) Harris. She was baptized into the Methodist faith and attended school near her home. She graduated from Bode High School in 1946 and later worked as a bookkeeper in West Bend, Iowa.
She married Richard Thompson on September 14, 1950 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode, Iowa. To this union two sons were born, Kent and Kirby. The couple made their home in Forest City (on the same block) their whole married lives.
Bev worked at Forest Fashions for many years and also in the library at Waldorf College. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, was active in Circle and had taught Sunday School. She was a wonderful bridge player and had memberships in many bridge clubs. She loved antiques, liked to go out dancing, and enjoyed her friends at the Forest City Country Club.
For many years, she and Dick spent the winters in Arizona, then traveled to Georgia then finally home. She treasured time spent with her family, dearly loved her granddaughters but her world really seemed to shine brighter when great-granddaughters Kyra and Sophia were around!
Beverly is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Richard Thompson of Forest City, her son Kent Thompson and his wife Connie of Forest City, three granddaughters; Allison, Brooke and Kelli, great-granddaughters Kyra and Sophia and a sister, Gerri Blair of Branson, Missouri.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, her son Kirby and her brother, Harlan.
