LELAND - Charles S. Albertson, age 79, of Leland, died Wednesday, October 31, 2007 near his home in rural Leland.



Funeral service will be Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 1:30 PM at the Evangelical Free Church in Clear Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday, November 2 from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home and an hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be at Ellington Township Cemetery in rural Forest City.





Charles Stanley Albertson was born on April 20, 1928 in Forest City, Iowa to Simon and Gladys (Rygmyr) Albertson, the second of three children. He was born again in May, 1950 when he received Jesus as his personal Savior. He attended country school near his home and later Leland Community School. After high school he worked briefly at Wilson Packing Plant in Albert Lea, Minnesota and helped his father farm.





On November 25, 1948 he married Julaine Carola Torkelson at Forest City, Iowa. To this union was brought three children.





In 1948, he started farming his parents homestead and later farmed various properties in the north Iowa area. In 1970, they moved back to the homestead and continued farming until his death. While farming he also took up other interests ñ electrician, plumbing, heating, woodworking, and golf, but still farming was his favorite. He also worked for a short time at Winnebago Industries from 1972-1973.





He served on the Thompson/Leland Coop Elevator board for several years and has served the past few years on the Hauge Lutheran Federation board.



He is survived by his wife, Julaine and three children: Barb (Roger) Jacobson of Estherville, IA; Dave (Sheryl) Albertson of Leland, IA; and Joel (Tanda) Albertson of Forest City, IA; nine grandchildren: Angela (Will) Pazurek of Austin, MN; Kara (Paul) Quam of Springfield, MO; Amber (Ben) Dahl of Moorhead, MN; Laurann (James) Anderson of Leland, IA; Betsie (Dan) Feldkamp of St. Louis Park, MN; Tisha (Scott) Thompson of Forest City, IA; Ethan (Michelle) Albertson of Florence, AZ; Luke (Monica) Albertson of St. Paul, MN; Erika (Aaron) Willey of Cherokee, IA; and eleven great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister; Darlene (Ken) Pinke of Dexter, MN and brother, Rodney (Sue) Albertson of Colorado Springs, CO and numerous other nieces and nephews. Also survived by sister and brother in-laws: Thelma Sunde, Louise Jermeland, Orrin (Marion) Torkelson, Bonnie Torkelson, Darlene (Marvin) Hanna.





He is preceded in death by his parents and two great grandchildren, Louisa Feldkamp and Marta Anderson.
