FOREST CITY - Clair M. Thompson, age 80, of Forest City, died Friday,
March 9, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at
Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Rod Hopp
officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.

Inurnment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Forest City with Graveside
Military Rites by American Legion Post 121 and VFW Post 6161.

Clair M. Thompson, the son of Maynard and Mabel (Helgeson) Thompson,
was born in Forest City on September 5, 1931. He was baptized and
confirmed at the Winnebago Lutheran Church. He graduated from Forest
City High School I 1949. After graduation he farmed with his father
until 1952 when he went into the United States Army and served 16
months in Korea. In 1954 he returned home to continue farming. On
January 10, 1960, he married Lavonne Peterson at the Salem Lutheran
Church in Lake Mills. In 1961 he bought an acreage in Forest City and
went to work for Sorenson Roofing. In 1971 Clair and his brother
Stanley bought out Mr. Sorenson and the business became Thompson
Roofing until 1990 when Clair retired.

He was a member of Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Forest City. He was also a member of Forest City
American Legion Post 121 and a lifetime member of the Leland VFW Post
6161. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and traveling.

Clair is survived by his wife Lavonne Thompson of Forest City, three children:
Brian and his wife Ginny of Leland, Carla and husband Glenn of Forest
City and Theresa and husband Clay of Forest City. Also surviving are
three brothers: Stanley of Forest City, Lynn of Estherville and Gary
of Britt, six grandchildren: Jarred & Jagger Thompson, Kelsey and
Corey Osborn and Erin and Ellie Caylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a son-in-law and a sister, Virginia.
