BRITT - Delores A. Hrubes, 58, of Britt died Monday, August 27, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Memorial services will be held 5 P.M., Friday, August 31st at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner with Pastor Brian Lund officiating.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4:30 P.M., Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or the Hancock County Health Services.

Cataldo Funeral Home in Garner is in charge of arrangements.

Delores Ann Hrubes, the youngest of four children of Orval and Pearl (Haes) Barkema, was born August 25, 1954 in Belmond. She graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1972. After high school she worked for Winnebago Industries in Forest City. She met her husband, Dean, at a Duncan Hall dance and they were united in marriage on December 10, 1977 at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner. They lived on a farm south of Duncan all of their married life. Besides raising their three children, Delores also helped out on the farm. She was active with her children's activities being a 4-H leader, chaperone and a football mom. Delores' other passions in her life were playing cards, organizing photos, fishing and driving her John Deere tractors.

She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan and Rosary Society.

Delores is survived by her husband, Dean, of Britt; three children, Sheri Hrubes of Mason City, Amanda (Andy) Martin of Mason City and their two children, Brayden and Kinley and Chuck Hrubes of Garner; her mother, Pearl Barkema of Garner; three siblings, Ed (Chery) Barkema of Garner, Phyllis (Paul) Spade of Goodell and Ivan (Pam) Barkema of Bruel, WI; mother-in-law, Margaret Hrubes of Garner; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Boho of Menomonee Falls, WI and Diane (Bill) Elling of Estherville; two brothers-in-law, David (Sharon) Hrubes of Fort Dodge and Gerry Hrubes of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Orval Barkema; father-in-law, John Hrubes; aunts, uncles and cousins.
