GARNER - Diane R. Larsen, 78, of Garner died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M., Tuesday, May 28th at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., in Garner. A private inurnment will be held at Concord Township Cemetery in Garner at a later date.
Diane Rae Larsen, the daughter of Kenneth and Bernice (Campbell) Meckstroth, was born November 19, 1934 at Mason City. She grew up in Garner and graduated from Garner High School in 1952. Diane worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone in Garner and Lifetime Motor Homes in Clear Lake after graduating from high school. On February 28, 1959 she was united in marriage to Edward W. Larsen. They lived in Bancroft until 1972, when they moved to Garner. Besides raising their family Diane was employed at IMT in Garner for 19 years, drove transit bus, worked in the cleaning department at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City and as a greeter at Wal Mart until her retirement. She enjoyed her family, watching sports, playing bingo and participating in bowling, golf and pool leagues. She loved her dog and cat, Rocky and Squeaky James.
Diane is survived by her four children, Julie (Jeff) Tegland of Forest City, Paula (Jerry) Appel of Fertile, Neil (Tabitha) Larsen of Garner and Jeffrey Larsen of Iowa City; seven grandchildren, Jasa Tegland, Kory and Nicholas Mitthun, Bradeon Appel and Jasmin, Dimitri and Zane Larsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Ed, June 22, 2012.
