FOREST CITY - Donald H. Limberg, age 77 of Forest City, died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa.
Memorial Service will be conducted at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 5, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Rodd Hopp officiating.
Inurnment will be at Madison Township Cemetery in rural Forest City. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church.
Donald Harvey Limberg was born on a farm near Woden, IA on February 6, 1933, the son of Conrad and Marie (Meyer) Limberg. He received his early education in country schools near his home, at Bingham #4 and Bingham #5. He then attended the Woden Public Community School and graduated from Woden High School there.
Don served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge from the service, he returned to Forest City and for a brief time worked for Paul Meyer Excavation. On April 30, 1971 he was united in marriage to Mavis Wheeler and the couple made their home in Forest City.
Don worked at Winnebago Industries for 27 years, 21 years at Customer Service where he was a Master Electrician. He retired on June 2, 1995. Later he took a part-time job at Bills Family Foods which he really enjoyed. He also worked as an EMT in the 1980s and was a long-time member of the Forest City Evening Lions Club. He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the Forest City American Legion Post 121.
Don was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he team-taught Sunday School with his wife. He ushered for many years and was a sound-booth operation for Sunday services.
Don is survived by two step-children: Linda Hansmeier of Mt. Vernon, IA and Harold Wheeler of Charlotte, MI; 5 step-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren, one step-great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Also surviving are 4 siblings: Doris (Pete) Leuwerke of Crystal Lake, IA; Kenneth Limberg of Waterloo, IA; Arthur (Nancy) Limberg of Decorah, IA and Mavis (Burdette) Weaver of Paullina, IA.
Don was precede in death by his parents, his wife, a sister-in-law and 1 step-great-grandchild.
