Dorothy Ambroson, age 84 of Leland, died Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 10:30 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leland, Iowa with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery in Leland. Visitation will be an hour prior to service at the church.



Dorothy Marcella Ambroson was born on the family farm east of Thompson, Iowa on July 20, 1921, the daughter of Albert and Millie (Gullickson) Tinderholt. She was baptized and confirmed at West Prairie Lutheran Church near Thompson.





She married Robert Ambroson on September 10, 1950. The couple farmed near Leland their entire married lives. Dorothy joined Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she was active in various organizations.





Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, doing handwork and made beautiful quilts. She worked for many years at the Leland Post Office and in the Winnebago County Accessorís Office. She entered the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City in September of 2002. She died there on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at the age of 84 years.





Dorothy is survived by her two children: James Ambroson and wife Melanie of Leland, Iowa and Janet Haugen and husband Dennis of Forest City, Iowa. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Christopher Ambroson and wife Shannon of Ames, Iowa; Jamie Licko and husband Jim of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Michael Haugen at Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minnesota and Justin Haugen of Eagan, Minnesota.





She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Robert Ambroson, who died on September 8, 2005, two brothers and two sisters.
