GARNER – Dorothy M. Nedved, 88, of Garner died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Concord Care Center in Garner.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 28th at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with Fr. Dennis Miller officiating. Lector will be Hans Nielsen. Altar server will be Marvin Engstler. Music will be provided by organist, Mary Kopacek who will accompany soloist, Louise Zrostlik and the church choir. Ushers will be Dave and Bernie Formanek. Inurnment will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Duncan.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Tuesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., in Garner with a Catholic Workman rosary at 4:30 P.M.

Memorials may be directed to St. Boniface Catholic Church or Hospice of North Iowa.

Dorothy Marie Nedved, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Vavrik) Formanek, was born April 8, 1926 on a farm near Hayfield. She attended Hayfield Consolidated School. On June 12, 1944 she was married to Leo Nedved at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan. They made their home on the Nedved family farm south of Duncan where they raised their four sons. In 1977, they retired from farming and moved into Garner. Besides helping on the farm, Dorothy also worked as a cook at Hull’s Café, Concord Care Center and Garner Livestock Sales. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, cooking and baking.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rosary Society and Catholic Workman FCSLA.

Dorothy is survived by her four sons, Larry Nedved of Plano, TX, Jerry Nedved of Garner, Vern (Pam) Nedved of Humboldt and Randy (Jill) Nedved of Garner; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; a sister, Darlene (Hans) Nielsen of Fort Dodge; a sister-in-law, Marie Formanek of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; daughter-in-law, Judy Nedved; granddaughter, Jennifer Nedved; great-grandsons, Tate and McCoy Nedved; and brothers, Leonard and Don Formanek.
