GARNER – Edna L. Welshans, 93, of Garner died Tuesday (April 8, 2008) at the Concord Care Center in Garner.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner with Rev. Harvey Opp officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Edna Lois Welshans, the daughter of Jeff and Sadie (Boynton) Cowgell, was born November 26, 1914 at Lake Mills. She attended school at Lake Mills. In November of 1933 she was married to Frank Brand at Kanawha. To this union five daughters and four sons were born. They lived in the Kanawha-Britt area where they farmed. Frank passed away in 1961. On August 13, 1960 she was married to Albert Welshans at Nashua. They lived in Rockford until 1987 when they moved to Garner. Edna enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sewing and crocheting.

Edna is survived by her children, Wavel Lichman and special friend, Dennis Kline, of Britt, Marvel Thompson of Mason City, Sharon Jenkins and husband, Kenny, of Bay City, WI, Robert Brand and wife, Ginger, of Clear Lake and Karen Hueneman and husband, K.J., of Garner; 34 grandchildren; 78 great grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Wavel Meyer of Mason City and Manetta Slowinski of Sioux Falls, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Frank in 1961 and Albert in 1987; a daughter, Janyce Stromley; sons, Richard, Larry and Ronald Brand; sons- in-law, John Lichman and Elmer Thompson; and a great granddaughter, Chelsea Hart.
