THOMPSON - Elaine E. Hill, age 89 of Thompson, died Monday, November 26, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.



Funeral service will be Friday, November 30, 2007 at 1:30 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson with Pastor Mark Decker officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thompson.



Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, November 29th at the funeral home and an hour prior to service at the church.



Elaine E. Hill was born in Thompson, Iowa on December 10, 1917, the daughter of James and Esther (Kinden) Ashpole. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church where she remained a life-long member. She received her education in Thompson and graduated from Thompson High School.



On September 30, 1939, she married Delmar Hill in Mason City, Iowa. The couple settled on the family farm near Thompson. Elaine raised her family and over the years worked for various organizations, including the Thompson Locker, the Farm Bureau, ASCS office, Winnebago County Superintendent's office and the Winnebago County Extension Service. After Delmar's death in 1962, Elaine moved into town to care for her parents.



Elaine was an involved member of her community. She was active in church Circle, enjoyed traveling and treasured time spent with her family.



Elaine is survived by her children and their spouses: Janice (Alan) Fleetwood of Davenport, IA; Clifton (Pat) Hill of Thompson, IA and Phyllis (Don) Hinton of Des Moines, IA, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.



Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Delmar and brothers Baynard and Leonard.
