BRITT – Frances Bruns, 94, of Britt died Monday (February 11, 2008) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Britt with Rev. Robert Dodge officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 P.M., Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Franciska “Frances” Bruns, the daughter of Jacob and Kathrin (Korte) Kurtzleben, was born August 22, 1913 near Ackley. She was baptized at East Presbyterian Church in Ackley. She wasn’t quite a year old when she moved with her family to a farm east of Woden. She attended school at Woden and was confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Woden. On February 25, 1938 she was united in marriage to Bruno Bruns at the Presbyterian parsonage in Woden. They farmed near Lakota and Ledyard before moving to a farm southeast of Titonka where they lived for 25 years. In the fall of 1972, they retired from farming and moved into Britt. Frances enjoyed her family, friends and reading books. She especially loved her flowers.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Britt and was a former member of Ramsey Reformed Church near Titonka.

Frances is survived by her daughter, Karen (Charles) Walter of Eagan, MN; grandson, Christopher Walter of Apple Valley, MN; two sisters, Kathrine Kurtzleben of Titonka and JoAnn Hobbs of Hampton; a sister-in-law, Harriet Kurtzleben of Woden; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno, April 26, 2001; her parents; a sister, Johanna Kurtzleben; and two brothers, Harm and Calvin Kurtzleben.
