WODEN - Harold J. "Bud" Haugen, 83, of Woden died Monday, August 27, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M., Thursday, September 6th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Woden with Revs. Bob Wolfert and Jon Rollefson officiating. Burial will be at Grant Lutheran Cemetery, rural Woden with military rites by the Woden Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

Visitation will be from 4:30-7:00 pm on Wednesday at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Woden and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Harold Junior "Bud" Haugen was born September 16, 1928 to Ole Haugen and Elizabeth (Gjertson) Haugen on a farm north of Woden. He was baptized and confirmed at Grant Lutheran Church, rural Woden. He attended rural schools in Winnebago County. Bud did farm work until he was 17 years old when he enlisted in the Navy. He was stationed in San Diego, California, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Shanghai, China, serving four years. For several years Bud did road construction work. He later worked for the Woden Co-op Elevator and worked for 23 years doing concrete work for North Iowa Grain in Garner, until he retired. Bud enjoyed bowling, going to tournaments, fishing in Canada, watching Western movies and the History channel. He especially enjoyed spending time and playing cards with his nieces, great nieces and great nephews.

He is survived by three sisters and four brothers; Gerdis Haugen of Woden, Russell (Colleen) Haugen of Thompson, Alice (Gunter) Walkusch of Loveland, Colorado, John (Debra) Haugen of Klemme, Betty (Norris) Anderson of Thompson, Donald (Liv) Haugen of Bergen, Norway and Ole Haugen of Los Angeles, CA. Buddy was very much loved by his nieces and nephews, Julie Haugen, Colleen Walkusch, John (Denise) Walkusch, Deanna Haugen, Diana Myers, James (Tuesday) Haugen, Nancy (David) Moklestad, Jason (Laura) Haugen, Elizabeth Ann Haugen (Thomas Calder) and Cathrine Haugen; great nieces and nephews, Ryan Keck, Sean and Logan Mayfield, Jonathan Burress, Samantha Haugen, Megan Moklestad, Alexis and Nicholas Myers, Alexander and Joshua Haugen, Samuel and William Haugen, Albert Calder, Dawn (Alex) Zaharis, Annah, Kadence and Harper Sue Zaharis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bernice, brother, Elliott; and sister-in-law, Gloria Haugen.
