GARNER – James “Jim” E. Haan, 74, of Garner died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 30th at the United Methodist Church in Garner with Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Corwith Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 P.M., Sunday at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., in Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Garner.

James “Jim” Eugene Haan, the son of Edward “Bill” and Myrtle (Schreiber) Haan, was born March 19, 1941 on a farm north of Garner. He graduated from Garner High School in 1959. After high school he worked at Schoneman’s Snow-White Grocery Store and Schoneman Standard Service. On April 16, 1966 Jim was united in marriage to Nancy Jo Claude at the United Methodist Church in Garner. They made their home in Garner where they raised their three children. Jim was employed at the Farmer’s Co-op Creamery in Garner where he started delivering milk in town and later canned milk in the country. Jim farmed near Garner from 1968 until 1970. He then began working at Hancock County Co-op Oil Company in Garner as a certified petroleum specialist until his retirement in 2003. Jim enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, woodworking, collecting caps and, especially, his grandkids.

He was a member of United Methodist Church in Garner.

Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy Haan of Garner; three children, Darren (Antoni) Haan of Austin, TX, Thomas (Harmonica) Haan of Forest City, and Amy (Brent) Lester of Roland; four grandchildren, Kelli Hill, Brayden Lester, Jakob Lester and Tatum Lester; a brother, William “Bill” (Patricia) Haan of Klemme; two sisters, Irene (Jerry) Van Winkle of Clinton, MO, and Zita Klunder of Nashua; his mother-in-law, Rena Claude Freiberg of Garner; and brother-in-law, Tony (JoAnn) Claude of Heron Lake, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Haan; father-in-law, Walter Claude; and two brothers-in-law, Steve Claude and Jimmy Klunder.
