James L. Thoreson

FOREST CITY -- James L. Thoreson, age 71 of Forest City, died Saturday, September 15, 2007 at his home in Forest City. Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Miller with Rose Visser, Lay Minister officiating.



Burial will be at Lost Island Cemetery in Ruthven, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Monday, September 17th at the funeral home and an hour prior to service at the church.





James L. Thoreson was born in rural Emmetsburg, Iowa, on December 30, 1935, the son of L. H. and Marmion (Hewitt) Thoreson. He received his education there and graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1954. He served in the US Army for two years.



Jim received his BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from South Dakota State University in January of 1972. On August 27, 1972 he was married to Twilla Thu at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger, IA.



Jim began working for Winnebago Industries in 1972 and the couple has made their home in Forest City ever since. Jim was an active member of the Lion's Club. He was very involved with scouting and was Scoutmaster of Troop 418 for several years, known as ìMr. Tî to his scouts and friends. As a member of Faith Lutheran Church, he served on many committees over the years.



He was a wonderful husband, proud father to his sons and a loving grandfather who treasured time spent with his grandchildren.





He is survived by his wife, Twilla Thoreson of Forest City and two sons, Eric (Susan) Thoreson and Brian Thoreson, both of Forest City, his grandchildren, Alyssa, Kassandra and Corey, three sisters, Marilyn Ernst of Waynesville, MO, Idelle (Harold) Boomgarden of Gladstone, MO, and Betty (David) Penn of Pleasant Hill, IA; three brothers, Norman (Jeanne) Thoreson of Urbandale, IA, Ronald (Anne) Thoreson of Rhodes, IA and Roger Thorson of Graettinger, IA and many nieces and nephews.



Jim is preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Dick Ernest and three nephews.
