Jean L. Thompson

Forest City - Jean L. Thompson, 80 of Forest City, died Sunday September, 30, 2018 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M., October 4, 2018 at Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St. Forest City, Iowa.

A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Thursday.

Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed the Jean Thompson memorial fund in care of the family.

Jean L. Thompson was born August 31, 1938 in Austin, MN, the daughter of Vernon and Mildred (Stiele) Kamp. Jean worked at North Central, Good Samaritan Center as a CNA, Beverly’s in Lake Mills and bartended at a few bars in the area. She worked at 2 different times at Winnebago Industries, retiring in 2001.

Jean liked doing puzzles to pass the free time, she loved her family and friends and getting together talking about the old days with her family were favorite times to Jean. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Valerie Nielsen of Forest City; sisters, Joyce (Cliff) Carlson of St. Paul, MN, Margie Distad of Albert Lea, MN, Rita (Arnold) Earl of Austin, MN, Karen (John) Torvick of New Castle, CA, Linda (Jerry) Meyer, Deb (Leonard) of Owatonna, MN; two brothers, Scott (Denise) Kamp of Austin, MN and Tom Kamp; nine grandchildren, Jessica (Nick) Cunningham of Leland, IA, Krystal Getchall of Crystal Lake, IA, Michael Nielsen of Forest City, IA, Paige Thompson of Nora Springs, Lexi Thompson of Nora Springs, Hunter Thompson of Nora Springs, Kate Thompson of Lake Mills, Jake Thompson of Lake Mills and Briana Bakkum; four great grandchildren, Aaiden Cunningham, Morgan Getchell, Kassidy Cunningham, Thea Getchell and many many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her four sons, Daniel, James, Steven and Duane Thompson; parents, Vernon and Mildred Kamp; brothers, Ramond Kamp, Roger Kamp, David Kamp, Lavern Kamp, Keith Kamp, Ricky Kamp, Doug Kamp; sisters, Joanne Lester and Patty Schaffer.
