Jerry P. Daniels

FOREST CITY - Jerry Daniels, age 64 of Forest City, died Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Concord Care Center in Garner, Iowa.



A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home 505 N Clark Street in Forest City on Monday, September 21, 2009 from 2 to 5 PM.



Inurnment will be held at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Crystal Lake, IA at 5:30 PM on Monday, following the visitation.



Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by Forest City American Legion Post 121.





Jerry Paul Daniels was born in Corwith, Iowa on September 24, 1944, the son of John M. and Catherine (Houston) Daniels. He received his education in Corwith and graduated from Corwith High School.





He served in the United States Army as a Tank Commander, stationed in Germany for much of the Vietnam War. He was later transferred to the states where he complete his tour as a Sergeant with the US Army Honor Guard, providing escort to fallen comrades-in-arms returning to the U.S.





In 1968 he was united in marriage to Diane TerHark. The marriage later ended in divorce. Jerry worked in many different positions in several Iowa communities over the years, most recently retiring from Winnebago Industries after being with the company nearly 8 years.





He liked being outdoors and shared that with his sons, taking them on many camping trips. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with family and friends and he dearly loved his dog Suzy.



Jerry is survived by his sons, Todd of Fort Dodge, IA and Mitch (Tammy) of Forest City; grandchildren Alan Michael, Michelle and Irelynd; a brother, John (Darlene) Daniels of Britt, IA, several nieces and nephews and many friends.



Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim.
