Mae Trulson

Mae Trulson, 90, of Britt died Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 3 P.M., Sunday, May 6th at the Woden Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Stan Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Saturday at the Cataldo Funeral Home, 178 First Ave. S.W., in Britt and will resume one hour prior to services at the church.

Mae Trulson, the daughter of Walter Mitchell and Van Dailey (Greene) Gouge, was born March 4, 1928 at Johnson City, Tennessee. She grew up in Johnson City and attended Cedar Valley School. After high school, she moved with her mother to Florida where she met her husband, Russell Trulson, Sr. while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. On June 2, 1945 they were married in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The couple lived in Fayetteville, TN, for one year before moving to Britt where they raised their children. Mae was employed at the milk plant in Britt and worked in the house keeping department at Westview Care Center and Hancock County Memorial Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed flowers, puzzles and watching birds.

She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Britt and the Britt American Legion Auxiliary.

Mae is survived by her four children, Russell (Barb) Trulson of Britt, Yolanda (Gerald) Redenius of Britt, Don (Cindy) Trulson of Elbow Lake, MN and Tom (Ginger) Trulson of Ankeny; a daughter-in-law, Mary Trulson of Olathe, KS; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Earl (Betty) Gouge of Johnson City, TN and Frank Gouge of Plantation, FL; a brother-in-law, Jim Trulson of Britt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell in 1986; son, Mitchell in 2000; and two sisters.

Mae firmly believed in Jesus, having received Him as her personal Savior. Thus, she had that blessed assurance and a sure and certain hope of going to heaven in her heart – her Eternal Home. She lives with Jesus now, free from all pain and suffering. What a relief! Hallelujah! Mae is enjoying wonderful peace in paradise! Praise the Lord! Thank you, Jesus!
