Marlyn J. Rollefson, age 75 of Forest City, died Friday, October 6, 2006 at his home in Forest City. Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 1:30 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Forest City with Graveside Military Rites by Forest City American Legion Post 121. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, October 5 at the funeral home and an hour prior to service at the church.







Marlyn James Rollefson was born on a farm in Mount Valley Township, Winnebago County, Iowa on November 3, 1930, the son of Norman and Clarice (Solberg) Rollefson. He was baptized at Winnebago Lutheran Church and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He received his education in rural schools near his home and graduated from Forest City High School in 1948. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.





On August 3, 1958 he married Margaret Boland at the Peace Reformed Church in Garner, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm east of Forest City where Marlyn farmed. Margaret passed away in 1980. On August 4, 1984 Marlyn was united in marriage to Shirley (Thompson) Anderson.





Marlyn was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he ushered for over 20 years and served on the Board of Trustees. He operated an Allis-Chalmers Dealership for a few years and was a member of the Forest City Elevator Board years ago. He was a member of Farm Bureau and for over 50 years a member of the American Legion.





Marlyn liked to collect antiques and enjoyed bowling and fishing. He treasured time spent on the farm with his grandchildren and loved playing billiards with family and friends.





Marlyn is survived by his wife Shirley of Forest City, and three sons: Jon (Laura) Rollefson of Thompson, Iowa; Joel (Kandi) Rollefson of Charles City, Iowa and Jay Rollefson of Lake Mills, Iowa. Also surviving is a brother, Ronald (Karen) Rollefson of Mesa, Arizona and step-sons Mark (Kamille) Anderson and Gene (Sheri) Anderson, seven grandsons, two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren; Bailey Johnson and Taj & Sydney Anderson and several nieces and nephews.





Marlyn was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Margaret.
