FOREST CITY - Marvin P. Juhl, 91, of Forest City died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, December 21st at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Rev. Rod Hopp officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with military rites by the Forest City Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Friday at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., in Forest City and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Forest City Library.

Marvin Paul Juhl, the son of Melvin and Clara (Olson) Juhl, was born September 4, 1922 on a farm northeast of Miller. At an early age he moved with his family to the Juhl farm south of Miller. He attended school at Miller until fifth grade when the family moved into Forest City. He graduated from Forest City High School in 1940. After high school he worked at Olson Furniture in Forest City. Marvin served his country during WW II in the U.S. Army as a tank commander in the 20th Armored Division. Following his discharge in February of 1945 he returned to Forest City and worked at Olson furniture where he met his future wife, Doris. On May 18, 1947 he married Doris Hall at Ellington Prairie Lutheran Church southeast of Miller. They made their home in Forest City all of their married life. Marvin owned and operated Forest City Floor Covering until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading and spending time with his family. He will be most remembered for his rock collecting and lapidary.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Forest City American Legion and served for many years on the Forest City Library Board.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Doris, of Forest City; four children, Randy (Renee') Juhl of Glenshaw, PA, Tom (Stacie) Juhl of Bloomfield, Marcia (Travis) Brunsvold of Bettendorf and Rick (Ann) Juhl of Surprise, AZ; grandchildren, Eric (Kelly) Juhl, Jason (Alison) Juhl, Katy Juhl, Jason Juhl, Derek Juhl, Jesse Brunsvold, Nicole (Brian) Bradley, Stephanie (Jon) Thomas, Annette (Josh) Fox and Amy Juhl (Molly Mann); six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Juhl.

The family of Marvin wishes to thank the staff at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City, Hospice of North Iowa and , especially, Sue Reece for their wonderful care.
