Obed I. Hope

Obed Ingvald Hope, 94, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015, at the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Pilot Knob Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Snitzer officiating.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. till time of service at the church on Saturday.

Interment will be held in the Crystal Lake Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a Hospice Care of your choice.

Obed Ingvald Hope was born July 3, 1921, in Grant Township, Winnebago County, Iowa, the son of the late Oscar and Ingeborg (nee Sands) Hope.

Obed valiantly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Seamen 1st Class on the USS Spencer during WWII. On November 29, 1952, Obed was united in marriage with Mary Pfister. Obed and Mary resided in Chicago, IL where he made his career as an Auto Body and Fender Technician for 45 years. He was a member of the Local 701 Automobile Mechanics’.

He is survived by his son Ronald (Sandy) Hope of Des Plaines, IL; Papa to Diane (Mike) Yunker, Eric (Susie) Hope and Katie (Josh) Nelson; and Great Papa to Julia Yunker; cherished brother to Gladys Olson of Forest City, IA and George Hope of Ogden, IA; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
