FOREST CITY ñ Rev. Albert R. Snyder, 79, of Forest City died Tuesday (July 24, 2007) at Forest Plaza Assisted Living in Forest City.





Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Friday at Calvary Baptist Church in Forest City with Rev. Doug Farrell officiating. Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Thursday at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.



Memorials may be directed to Calvary Baptist Church.



Rev. Albert Ray Snyder, the son of Arthur R. and Beulah (Zimmerman) Snyder, was born September 5, 1927 at Ashland, PA. As a young teen Albert gave his heart and life to Jesus Christ. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1945 and continued his education at the National Bible Institute in New York City, Shelton College in New York City and Upper Iowa University. Albert was ordained as a minister on January 27, 1949. After ordination, he went to Columbia, South America as a missionary. Upon his return to the U.S., he took his first pastorate at Ottumwa, Iowa. On May 21, 1954 he was married to Anna Mae Smith at Calvary Baptist Church in Forest City. To this union two children were born, Faith Ann and John. Albert served churches in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and Kansas before retiring in 1990 and moving to Forest City. He still continued in his ministry serving First Baptist Church in Cresco and First Congregational Church in Forest City. He enjoyed fishing, metal detecting and telling jokes.



He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.



Albert is survived by his wife, Anna Mae; two children, Faith Snyder of Evansville, IN and John (Elaine) Snyder of Watertown, MN; two grandchildren, Zachary and Micah Snyder; his twin sister, Alma Oswald of Walnutport, PA; and a sister-in-law, Alice Snyder.



He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Harold.
