Robert “Bob” E. Waite, 91, of Garner died Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Funeral services will be held 9 A.M., Saturday, October 28th at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with Fr. Jim Dubert and Msgr. John Hemann officiating. Following the service, his body will be donated to the University of Iowa, Department of Anatomy with burial at a later date in the church cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 P.M., Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner with a Scriptural wake service at 3:30 P.M. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Boniface Catholic Church, Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or Westview Care Center.

Robert Earl Waite, the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Cooper) Waite, was born August 17, 1926 in Toledo, Iowa. He attended school at Toledo and Tama. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II being stationed on Sand Island in Hawaii. On October 29, 1949 he married Mary Dean Braatz in Marshalltown. They lived in Marshalltown, Garner, Goodell and in June of 2016 moved to Summit House in Britt. Bob was employed at Lennox Furnace Company in Marshalltown, Swift’s Meat Packing Company in Marshalltown, Decker’s Meat Packing Company in Mason City and Allied Mills/Continental Grain Company for thirty-five years in Mason City. He enjoyed gardening, visiting with people, camping and fishing.

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner and was a lifetime member of the Garner VFW.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mary of Britt; children, Allan (Audrey) Waite of Moorehead, MN, Debra (John) Haugen of Klemme, Diane (Doug) Ingersoll of Clover, SC and Amy Waite (David Zavortink) of Camas, WA; grandchildren, Deana Lickteig, Kayla Waite, Lincoln Waite, Adam (Pamela) Roberts, Brent (Jennifer) Roberts, Craig (Jessica) Roberts, Katie Ingersoll (Julie Tozer), Ivan Zavortink and Kira Zavortink (Dylan Mitchell); step grandchildren, Julie and Deanna Haugen; great grandchildren, Lillith (Jeremy) Harbaugh, Olivia Lickteig, Elizabeth Lickteig, Jillian Butner, Cody Roberts, Kourtney Roberts, Brandon Roberts, Krysta Waite, Kaitlyn Waite, Paige Roberts, Clayton Roberts, Connor Roberts, Madeline Roberts, Isabella Roberts, Wesley Waite, William Waite, Wren Waite, Jonathon Burress and Samantha Haugen; four great great grandchildren, Melodie and Ballad Harbaugh, Cameron Zirbel and Celeste DeRaad; a brother, Richard (Bonnie) Waite of Rosebud, AR; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David and Andrew Waite; three children in infancy, Donald, Abbie and Annie; brothers, Edward and William Waite; sisters, Donna Plotz and Carolyn Rosenberg; sisters-in-law, Veronica Waite, Ruth Waite, and Rosie Waite; and brothers-in-law, Dennis Rosenberg and Jerald Plotz.
