GARNER - Ruby L. Lenz, 94, of Garner died Wednesday (June 23, 2010) at the Concord Care Center in Garner.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday at Peace Reformed Church south of Garner with Rev. Harvey Opp officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Sunday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Ruby Lorraine Lenz, the daughter Martin and Hilda (Evenson) Nielsen, was born April 8, 1916 at Miller. After the death of her mother in 1918, the family moved to Forest City. Ruby graduated from Forest City High School in 1933 and then worked at Graham's Store in Forest City. On November 15, 1938 she was married to Clarence Lenz at his parent's home south of Garner. They farmed south of Garner until they retired in 1984 and moved into town. In 1999, Ruby moved to Prairie View Apartments and in 2005 to Concord Care Center. She enjoyed traveling, photography, hand work and crocheting. Ruby greatly enjoyed and loved her family.

She was a member of Peace Reformed Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was a member of Women's Missionary Society.

Ruby is survived by her son, Garold "Gary" Lenz and his wife, Shirley, of Garner; two grandchildren, Sue Daellenbach and her husband, David, of Henderson, NV and Steven Lenz and his wife, Vickie, of Garner; two great grandchildren, Nalani Rood and her husband, David, and their children of Mason City and Holly Lenz of Ames; her sister-in-law, Lois Huenemann of Garner; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, in 1995; her parents; sister, Pearl Golbuff; and brother, Maynard Nielsen.
