Sharon L. Hansen, 76, of Forest City died Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 14, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Rev. Rodd Hopp officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Thursday at Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 North Clark St, Forest City, Iowa.
Burial of her cremains will be held at a later date.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the family to be given to charities of her choice.
Sharon LaVonne Hansen was born October 13, 1937 to Henry and Bessie (Gudmonson) Rollefson in Winnebago County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. At age 16, she started working at the Thompson Insurance Agency and at the Phillips 66 gas station located on the junction of HWYs 9 & 69 owned by her mother. Sharon attended Forest City Community Schools and graduated in May of 1955. At age 23, she moved to Omaha and married Robert L. Smith. Together they had a son, Timothy Jay Smith born on November 24, 1964, they later divorced. She then moved and worked in Chicago, IL. Sharon and her son moved to Forest City in 1967 where she then joined Winnebago Industries in their personnel department. Sharon continued working for Winnebago for 27 years, retiring as a Vice President of Administration. Sharon married Raymond Hansen on September 7, 1973. She was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a member of the Forest City Library Board of Directors. She also was an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Hansen; her son, Tim Smith and wife Brenda of Churchton, MD; two step-sons, Jeff Hansen of Omaha, NE and Jay Hansen and wife Ronda, their sons, Austin and Adam of Waukon, Iowa; sister-in-law, Fern Rollefson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bessie Rollefson; two brothers, Harvey and Roger Rollefson; one sister, Margaret Schmitz and sister-in-laws, Maxine Rollefson and Mary Barkela.
She will always be remembered for her giving nature and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
