BRITT - Verlin V. Ball, 78, of Britt went to be with his Lord on Saturday (April 10, 2010) at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Wednesday at the Evangelical Free Church in Britt with Rev. Stan Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt with military rites by the Britt Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Tuesday at the Cataldo Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.


Memorials may be directed to the Evangelical Free Church in Britt.

Verlin V. Ball, the son of Cecil and Alice (Ward) Ball, was born July 16, 1931 in Banner County, Nebraska. He graduated from high school at Alliance, NE and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years with the National Security Agency. On June 4, 1955 he married Marjory Schaper. To this union three children were born, Deanna, Timothy and Mark. Verlin owned and operated Schaper Hatchery in Britt and later changed the name to Ball Farm Service. Verlin accepted Christ as his personal Savior on September 11, 1977. He loved his Lord and his family. They were the center of his life.

He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Britt where he served as an elder and AWANA volunteer for several years. Verlin also served on the Britt school board for nine years.

He is survived by his wife, Marjory, of Britt; daughter, Deanna (Rick) Richeson of Grimes; two sons, Timothy (Corinne) Ball of Britt and Mark (Monica) Ball of Normal, IL; seven grandchildren, Justin (Heather) Richeson, Michelle, Megan, Miriam, Andrew (Lydia), Lucas and Ethan Ball; four brothers, Cecil (JoAnn) Ball, Lyle (Kay) Ball, Donald (Kay) Ball and Carl (Sandy) Ball; a sister, Doris Moe; a sister-in-law, Dora Lee Ball; and a brother-in-law, George Soss.

Verlin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gordon; sister, Irene Soss; brother-in-law, John Moe; and great grandson, Ezekiel Verlin Ball.
