FOREST CITY - Victor Benson, 91, of Forest City, died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Good Samaritan Care Center in Forest City.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM, Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Rod Hopp officiating.

Inurnment will be held in the spring.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Victor James Benson was born October 4, 1921, on a farm near Britt, Iowa, to Torsten "Tom" and Hannah (Vorland) Benson.

Victor worked at the Strand Dairy and farmed until his retirement in 2011. Victor married Blanche Charlson on June 20, 1944 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. They rented several farms before purchasing their farm northeast of Forest City. They resided there until they moved into the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City in 2012.

Victor always liked to sing and play his guitar and harmonica. He and Blanche entertained many groups with their singing over the years. He was a member of the Forest City Barbershop Chorus for many years and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. He also served on the Forest City Creamery Board.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche; and their six children and spouses, Janet (Tom) Oakleaf, James (Jane) Benson, Carol (Dan) Edmondson, Dale (Susan) Benson, Linda (Kirk) Whittlesey and Mark Benson. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 1 step great-grandchild; sisters, Thelma Smith, Dorothy Etzen, Marjorie Anderson; and brother, Robert Benson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jerimy Benson; sister, Alice Gerdes; brother, Norman Benson and his twin brother, Vance Benson.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Jerimy Benson Scholarship Fund, Forest City Good Samaritan Society or Hospice of North Iowa.
