David L. Rayhons

David Leroy Rayhons “Dave,” 66, of Garner, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Saturday, May 23, 2026, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 28th at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan with Rev. Fr. Paulraj Sellam officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with a rosary at 4:15 p.m., followed by a Scriptural wake service.

Dave was born March 15, 1960, in Forest City to Francis and Lois (Helps) Rayhons. A 1978 graduate of Garner-Hayfield High School, he embarked on a diverse and industrious career and was always known for his commitment and pride in his work. Dave began at Eenhuis Construction in Klemme, followed by a position at Harvestore Silo in Humboldt. Returning to Garner, he contributed his skills to the Hancock County Co-op Oil tire service department before moving to Lennox, Iowa, to assist his uncle Lawrence Rayhons on his farm.

Dave later pursued a career in trucking, working with several firms across northern Iowa and southern Minnesota until his retirement. Dave also enjoyed music by Bob Seger, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and following NASCAR and local dirt track racing. Above all, he will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, consistently participating in family events and gatherings.

He was a lifetime member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

Dave is survived by his mother, Lois of Garner; siblings, Julie (Todd) Baker of Algona, Susan (Tim) Speers of Storm Lake, Gregory (Sandy) Rayhons of Garner, Jerome (Tracey) Rayhons of Altoona, Lisa Rayhons of Indianapolis, IN, and Laurie Merryman of Maxwell; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis; brother, Steven Rayhons; infant sister, Katherine Rayhons; and nephew, Clinton John Rayhons.

Memorials may be directed to the Garner Volunteer Ambulance Service.
