Floyd W. Johnson was born November 5, 1929 in Forest Township, Winnebago County, the son of Ole and Marie (Schmid) Johnson. He attended Linden #5 and graduated from Thompson High School in 1947. He married Betty A. Rhubee on October 28, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center. They moved to a farm SW of Thompson where they farmed and resided for 60 years, raising their three daughters, Debra, Roxanne and Jaclyn. After his farming career Floyd enjoyed working at 3M for six years. In 2011 they moved to Forest City.

He was a long-time active member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Floyd enjoyed the time he spent with his family, friends and community involvement--a longtime member of the Thompson Lions Club and serving on the Thompson Elevator Board. They especially enjoyed a close circle of friends, boating, dancing, camping, travelling, playing cards, bowling league and celebrating many special occasions together.
Family was important and always gathered around the table for all birthday and holiday celebrations.

Floyd is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty of Forest City; daughter, Debra & Harold McCracken of Galveston, TX (and their children Erin Pillow, Lindsey Carlblom, Melissa McCracken and Matt (Shannon) McCracken), Roxanne & Kent Krominga, Forest City, (and their children Monica Harman, Megan Johns, Marcus Curry (Morgan Smith), Deanna (Jeff) Brasch, Regina (Tom) Prentice, Marcie (Jason) Lane and Kate (Dan) Frerichs). He is survived by seventeen great-grandchildren, one arriving in October, and sisters-in-law Norma Olson, Mavis Johnson and Judie Johnson.
