Geneva Dorothy Brackey

Geneva D. Brackey, 88, of Forest City, died peacefully, Monday, May 8, 2017 at her home.

Visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St. Forest City, Iowa.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Winnebago Lutheran
Church, rural Lake Mills with Pastor Bill Peters officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Geneva Dorothy (Gray) Brackey was born October 7, 1928 in rural Lakota, Iowa, the daughter of Gerrit and Henrietta (Jansen) Gray. She attended school near Lakota and Buffalo Center, Iowa. Geneva was married to Orville Knutson on November 27, 1954 in Albert Lea, MN, he later died as a result of a tractor accident. Geneva later was remarried to Duane Brackey on June 1, 1967 at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, to this union one daughter, Kim was born.

She was an active member of the Winnebago Lutheran Church, was also a 4-H leader and Farm Bureau leader. In 1992 they moved off of the family farm into Forest City. She enjoyed camping, traveling, having coffee with her friends at Hardees, and her Red hat group, She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and attending their activities. Geneva will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Geneva is survived by her daughter, Kim Isebrand and husband Michael and her grandchildren, Alex and Lexi Isebrand.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Orville Knutson and Duane Brackey.
