GARNER - Gladys L. Jurgemeyer, 95, of Garner died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Concord Care Center in Garner.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 28th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with Rev. Carl Hedberg officiating. Burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., in Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Gladys Louise Jurgemeyer, the daughter of John and Lottie (Riekens) Meinders, was born May 19, 1919 on a farm near Meservey. She attended the rural schools near Klemme and graduated from Klemme High School in 1936. Gladys was united in marriage to Alfred Jurgemeyer on December 30, 1937 at Immanuel Reformed Church Parsonage in Klemme. They made their home on a dairy farm near Klemme. The couple retired from farming in 1967 and moved to Garner in 1970. In 1987, she moved to Prairie View Apartments where she lived for the next twenty-five years. In her later years, she spent much of her time babysitting, playing cards and quilting.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, Bible school and was active in many other church activities. Gladys also belonged to LWML and was a 4-H leader for many years.

Gladys is survived by her son-in-law, Egon Weaver of Boone; daughter-in-law, Diane Jurgemeyer of St. James, MN; four grandchildren, Dr. Kent (Angela) Weaver of Clive, Heather (Mark) Nigro of Boone, Raquel (Michael) Linch of Creston and Karla Jurgemeyer of Northfield, MN; five great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Paul Weaver, Autumn Weaver and Dylan and Brittany Linch; a sister, Mildred Lewis of Logan, NM; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Jurgemeyer of Rockwell and Marjorie Jurgemeyer of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred in 1978; daughter, Elaine Weaver in 2003; son, Vernon, in 2012; brother, Elmer Meinders; and sisters, Vergie Josten, Marjorie Lemke and Marie Nuehring.
