James (Jim) Edward Destival was born in Harvey, Illinois on December 15,1963 to Dennis Destival and Joan (Andreasen) Destival. He was a hardworking man and amazing father to his two beautiful girls.

Jim loved hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, especially when his driver Jeff Gordon #24 won the race and pretty much anything to do with the outdoors. He loved being outside and enjoying what nature had to offer. Besides his two girls, his greatest joy was his deer head "Rockpile". Jim was so happy when he shot his first buck with a bow and arrow on top of a rockpile. If he could he would have taken taken that deer head everywhere with him.

Jim's greatest accomplishment were his two beautiful daughters, Amanda and Angela. He told everyone who would listen about what they were doing at the time or how proud he was of both of them. Jim had a heart as big as a watermelon and would help or listen to anyone who needed anything. He was so excited to become a first time grandfather this May to a baby boy. Even though he would joke that he was too young to be a grandfather, anyone and everyone could see the excitement on his face. When Angela gave Jim the news she was having a boy his face lite up and he was so excited. "Finally a boy!" Jim couldn't wait to teach his new grandson everything boys do, especially outside.
Jim truely does have a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone if he could, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim is survived by his daughters’ mother, Melinda (Celindro) Carpenter; their children, Amanda (Destival) Jimenez and husband BMSN Gabriel Jimenez and Jim's granddog, Panda of San Diego, CA, Angela Destival and future grandson, Tavin James Destival and granddog, Bubba of Forest City, IA; his siblings, Denise and Jeff Bredeson of Fertile, Jodi and Howard Abbott of Leland, Jenny and Dennis Richards of Fairbanks, IA, Deanne and Jerry Greer of Aarvada, CO and his beloved brother Dennis Destival (Crystal Lake, IA) along with many many friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

James was met in heaven by both maternal and paternal grandparents and his parents, Dennis and Joan Destival.
