FOREST CITY -- Jesse A. Jorgensen, age 18, formerly of Forest City, presently residing in Sioux City and attending Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.



Funeral service will be held Monday, August 27 at 10:30 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leland with Pastor Timothy Miller officiating.



Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa on Tuesday, August 28 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be Sunday, August 26 from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home and an hour prior to service at the church.



The family requests memorials be directed to the Jesse Jorgensen Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Dollars for Scholars program.



Jesse was born January 20, 1989 in Forest City, Iowa, the son of John and Mary (Johnson) Jorgensen. He was ëthe first baby of the new yearí and the last ëscheduled birthí at Forest City Community Hospital. He was baptized in Fallon, Montana by his grandfather the Rev. Lowell B. Johnson. Jesse was raised and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leland, Iowa. He attended the Forest City Schools, graduating with the class of 2007.





Jesse participated in many activities during his school years including park and rec activities, high school bowling league, track, baseball, basketball, and most importantly football. Jesse was voted to the 2006 All District Team as defensive tackle. Jesse was really looking forward to playing football at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. Jesse enjoyed the challenge of band in which he played the tuba, contributing to Division I ratings in high school, and being a participant in many honor bands during middle school.





Jesse is survived by his parents John and Mary Jorgensen of Sioux City Iowa; brothers Joe (Alissa) Jorgensen of Northfield, Minnesota, Jacob (Meredith) Jorgensen of Sioux City, Iowa, John Willey of Charles City, Iowa: sisters Jessica Jorgensen & Michelle Woodson of Sioux City Iowa; niece and god-daughter Erica Grace Jorgensen of Northfield, Minnesota and niece Jadyn Marie Swiggum of Charles City. Grandparents include Lowell and Reta Johnson of Woodbine, Iowa, Orval Jorgensen Sioux City, Iowa; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Jesse will be missed by girlfriend Amy Kafer.





Jesse was preceded in death by his grandmother Doris Jorgensen.
