Joyce Elaine (Stoering Kammerer) Knorr, 96, of Clear Lake passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the Oakwood Care Center. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N 4th St, with Pastor Steve Bang officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time. Interment will be held in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family of Joyce Knorr.
Joyce Knorr was born in LeMars, Iowa on September 16, 1926, to Jacob and Edith (Rees) Stoering. Her Father died before she was two years old; she and her mother lived with her maternal grandparents until 1935, when her mother married John Kammerer, who adopted Joyce a year later.
Joyce graduated from LeMars High School in May of 1944, and then left to work for the FBI in Washington DC. She was there for eight months and then returned to LeMars and worked for the LeMars Mutual Insurance Company for seven years. She married Virgil L. Knorr on November 6, 1949; and to this union two sons, Kent and Keith, were born. In October of 1954, Joyce and Virgil moved to Clear Lake, Iowa where they owned and operated Knorr Electric for over forty years.
Joyce was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church belonging to Joy Circle and Alter Guild. She was also a member of Keynotes. She also belonged to Friendly Garden Club. She was a Hospice of North Iowa volunteer, also RSVP (Reading Buddy), and Oakwood Care Center volunteer. She also volunteered for the KCMR radio station, Mercy Auxiliary, and Meals on Wheels.
Joyce is survived by Kent (Janet) Knorr, Clear Lake; Keith (Nicolle Dutenhoffer) Knorr, Burnsville, MN. Grandchildren, Michael (Jamie) Knorr, Jenny (Mike) Vaske, both of Clear Lake. Great grandchildren, Jace Knorr, Logan Vaske, Maxton Knorr, Izabella Vaske, Isaac Vaske, Kasen Knorr, and Zoe Vaske. Brother-in-law, Rev. Charles (Vicky) Knorr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Knorr (2008), her parents, and brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
