Mary Ellen Barrett, 86, of Winter Park, FL formerly of Forest City, died May 24, 2017 in Winter Park, FL.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. James Catholic Church in Forest City with Rev. Paul Lippstock officiating.
A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Inurnment of cremains will be held in St. James Catholic Cemetery.
Mary Ellen Barrett of Winter Park, Florida died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in Orlando with a dear friend at her side. She was born to Margaret and Jack Barrett on December 30, 1930 in Forest City, Iowa. Mary Ellen graduated from St. Joseph High School in Mason City, Mary Crest College and received a Master’s Degree from Loyola University in Chicago. She taught in Iowa and Minnesota and served as Principal in Sigourney, Iowa. and served in religious education and Spiritual Direction.
Mary Ellen was a Beloved Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend to Many and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary Ellen resided in Florida for the past 27 years and was a member of the Hibernian Organization in Orlando.
Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her parents. Survived by her two sisters, Loretta Barrett Colwell (Ray), Paola, Kansas and Elizabeth Barrett Smith (Dick), Oakdale, MN; many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and special godsons, Patrick Horst and Ben Purcell.
