Monica R. Stupka, 68, of Garner, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Private family services will be held at a later date to honor her memory.
Monica Rita Stupka was born on February 21, 1955, in Black Duck, Minnesota to Kurt and Ilse (Bethke) Treske. At an early age, Monica and her family relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota. She completed her education at Minneapolis Central High School, graduating with the Class of 1973. During high school, she joined the U.S. Department of Food and Agriculture where she worked diligently for several years. On March 29, 1975, she married the love of her life, Donald Stupka, in Burnsville, Minnesota. They spent their first year of marriage in Burnsville before setting out for California. Monica retired as a Medical Claims Adjuster, and in 2007 they settled down in Garner to enjoy their retirement years together. Monica’s greatest joy came from spending invaluable time with her beloved family - children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She found solace and pleasure in baking delicious treats for her loved ones and excelled at both cooking comforting meals and indulging in True Crime documentaries. As a faithful person with unwavering devotion to her beliefs, she found strength by reading Scripture every day.
Monica is survived by her husband, Donald of Garner; daughters, Diana Vaughan of Garner and Stacy (Scott) Mitchell of Garner; grandchildren, Tyler and Zackary Vaughan, Johnathon O’Connor, Latham and Savannah Mitchell; great-grandchildren Kaizer, Kenslee and Liam Vaughan; a sister, Sylvia (Charlie) Tapelt of Aiken, MN; a brother, Harry Treske of Minnesota; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kurt and Ilse; and her brother, Dieter Treske.
