Nels E. Jensen

Nels E. Jensen, 98, of Britt passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Britt Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Jon Bliesmer officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt and will resume one hour prior to services at the church.

Nels Edward Jensen, the son of V. Bernhard and Anna (Peterson) Jensen, was born March 24, 1924, near Britt. He attended the rural schools north of Britt until the eighth grade and then helped his father on the farm. On March 9, 1947, he married Eleanor Chizek at St. Boniface Catholic Church rectory in Garner. They farmed near Eagle Lake and Hayfield before moving to their farm north of Britt in 1975. After Eleanor passed away in 2010, he continued to live on the acreage and farmed with his son, Marlin, until moving to Summit House in Britt in 2018. He enjoyed his family and deer hunting.

He was a member of Upper Flat Evangelical Free Church north of Britt.

Nels is survived by his three children, Janeen Hempler of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Eileen Schutter of Oakdale, MN and Marlin (Donna) Jensen of Mason City; six grandchildren, Anita Hempler, Marie Johnson, Scott (Janice) Schutter, Candace Hempler, Susan (Dan) Lindstrom and Christopher Jensen; four great grandchildren, Ryan and Claire Schutter and Eleanor and Spencer Lindstrom; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eleanor; sons-in-law, Harold Hempler and Edward Schutter; and siblings, Robert, Christinia, Edwin and Edith.
