Robert Roe Stille, affectionately known as “Bullhead,” was born on June 14, 1934, in Mason City, Iowa. He was raised in Garner and graduated from Garner High School in 1954. Bob pursued further education at Iowa State University in Ames for two years before being drafted into the U.S. Army, serving his country honorably until his discharge in 1958. On October 9, 1955, Bob was united in marriage to Virginia Veldhouse at the Goodell United Methodist Church. Together, they welcomed three daughters: Laurie, Linda, and Lisa. Bob worked for the REC and also farmed with his father-in-law near Goodell. Bob and Virginia then farmed on their own and operated a cattle operation. The family resided on a farm near Goodell until the spring of 1962, when they moved to a farm west of Klemme. In October of 1996, Bob and Virginia moved to Eagle Lake, where he continued to live after her passing in 1997. On October 9, 2004, he married Sandi Riffle at the Goodell 240 farm, and in 2024, they relocated from Eagle Lake to their home in Ventura.

Bob enjoyed a rich array of hobbies including playing softball as a catcher for Butt’r Tops, as well as hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was a passionate supporter of high school athletic events and a devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings. Bob and Sandi enjoyed family vacations to Canada, South Dakota and northeast Iowa fishing. Bob also enjoyed his hunting dog companions.

Bob was a member of the Goodell Methodist Church, and also actively participated in Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and served on the Klemme Coop Elevator Board and Hancock County Conservation Board.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sandi, of Ventura; three daughters, Laurie (Doug) Anderson of Nevada, IA, Linda (Craig) Meints of Goodell and Lisa (Chris) Barillas of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Brittany (Brad) Janssen, Aaron Anderson, Anna Finzen, Amy Skogerboe (Ryan Williamson), Nicholas Barillas and Rachel (Tucker) Datema; great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Jackson, Avery, Ava, Calvin, Jax, Hazel, Ricky and Wren; his brother, Tom (Iris) Stille of Reno, NV; a niece and two nephews.
