Roger L. Hanse, 53, of Thompson, formerly of Garner, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Good Shepherd Health Care Center in Mason City.
A private family service will be held. Inurnement will be in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner.
Roger Lee Hanse, born on July 27, 1971, was the son of LeRoy “Pete” and Helen (Timmons) Hanse. Raised in Garner, he graduated from high school in 1990 and proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. Roger dedicated his professional life to the painting industry, working for various businesses in North Iowa, including Winnebago Industries, Stellar Manufacturing, CDI, and Iowa Mold Tooling. He continued to work diligently until health challenges required his retirement.
Roger shared his life with his special friend, Malinda Andreasen, in Thompson until 2022, when he became a resident at Good Shepherd Health Care Center. Throughout his life, he faced numerous challenges, including a decade-long battle with diabetes that resulted in the loss of his eyesight in 2020. Despite these difficulties, Roger remained passionate about life and cherished time spent with his family. He enjoyed activities such as hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, tinkering with cars, and, of course, his work as a painter.
He is survived by his two sons, Jason Hanse of Garner and Tim (Kaitlyn) Molencamp of Klemme; his special friend, Malinda Andreasen of Forest City; three brothers, Bill Hanse of Fort Dodge, John Hanse of Mason City, and Eugene Timmons of Mason City; a cherished nephew, Brad Hanse of Fort Dodge; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
