Our beloved father, Roger Lowell Tendall, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the age of 93. He is survived by his children, Denise (Marvin) Mauderer of Mission, Texas; Wayne (Colleen)Tendall of Waukee, Iowa; Neal (Teresa) Tendall of Kearney, Missouri; and daughter-in-law, Ann Tendall of Forest City, Iowa.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Cataldo Chapel, 160 E Third St. Visitation will be held one hour prior to 0the service time. Interment will be held in the Madison Township Cemetery, Forest City. All friends and family are welcome. The family asks that donations be made to St. Croix Hospice in Mason City instead of flowers or other gifts.
Roger was born in Clarion, Iowa, on Aug. 15, 1931 to Leroy and Gladys Tendall. He was born the only boy in a family with four sisters. Roger grew up on the family farm in Belmond, Iowa. After high school, Roger entered the United States Army and was stationed in Lawton, Oklahoma, in the meteorology department. While there, he met the love of his life, Dolores Henderson, and married her after 6 months of dating, on Dec. 19, 1953.
After Roger was released from the military, he and Dolores returned to Iowa where Roger worked in agriculture. The couple later bought a farm in Miller, Iowa, where Roger farmed and later worked as a rural route mail carrier. After moving off the farm, Roger and Dolores lived in town in Garner.
Roger was proud of several things in life that transcended his impressive hat collection and penchant for whistling. He took pride in living a long life, working hard, and his family. Besides his children, Roger cherished his grandchildren, Matthew Tendall, Alex Tendall, Jacob Tendall, Taylor Tendall, Destiny Tendall, Keith Tendall, Stacy Butler, Rachel Tendall, Makayla Smith, Nathan Ward, David Tendall, Michael Tendall, and Chris Tendall. Roger was also blessed with 15 great grandchildren to date. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; his son, Mark; his parents, LeRoy and Gladys Tendall; and sisters Lavina, Adeline, Ruby, Marilyn. His legacy will live on in all the lessons he taught his family and in all the incredible things he made with his woodworking skills.
