Sandra L. Hugo, 85, of Woden passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Bingham Township Cemetery south of Woden. 

Sandra Lou Hugo, the daughter of Henry and Josephine (Coller) Gerdis, was born on February 24, 1941, in Kossuth County, Iowa. Sandy graduated from Titonka High School and was united in marriage to Fred Hugo, Jr. on February 17, 1958, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their lifelong home in Woden, where they raised their family. Throughout her life, Sandy dedicated herself to her family and community. She provided childcare in her home and served as the librarian in Woden for several years. An avid reader, she especially enjoyed literature on World War II history. Sandy also had a passion for baking and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Woden.

Sandy is survived by her two daughters, Kathy (Cary) Brown of Woden and Susan (Jeffrey) Hull of Woden; four grandchildren, Heather (James) Clark, Rachel Brown, Sheric Hull and Skyler Hull; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jacki Van Hove and Charleen Raber; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred, Jr.; infant son, Timothy; granddaughters, Randi Jo Chipman and Emma Winter; three sisters; and a brother.
