William "Bill" J. Spencer

William “Bill” J. Spencer, 77, of Britt passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Westview Care Center in Britt.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Steve Couch officiating. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed at the service. Military rites will be conducted by the Britt Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

William Jay Spencer, the son of Jay and Ruth (Hamre) Spencer, was born July 22, 1943 at Blue Earth, MN. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force being stationed in Germany. On September 26, 1976 he married Beverly Gremmer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They made their home in Britt. Bill was employed at Winnebago Industries in Forest City until his retirement. He enjoyed watching Western shows on TV.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Britt.

Bill is survived by his granddaughters, Lorienza (Jerry) Zahrt of Floyd and Leean (Darin) Schmidt of Titonka; many great grandchildren; a brother, Jim (Suzzane) Spencer; a brother-in-law, Kenny (Carol) Gremmer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly in 2011; daughter, Lisa Kaye Scott; and sister-in-law, Jenny (Gerald) Smith.
